Behind my house there is a big dump yard which is over flowing , not maintained properly and it is right next to a lake so some off the garbage just goes into the lake . I found out that they stopped dumping garbage over there over a year back but they still haven’t cleaned it .
I came to know that there are 50 families living inside the dump yard right next to the waste , it is not safe for them to live there because they could get some diseases because of living next to the waste . I interviewed some people over there and they said that they are people who collect waste from Sembakam , Kamarajapuram, Rajakilpakam and Mahalakshmi nagar and they live there because they don’t have any where else to live.
I interviewed the municipality councillor and asked him what they are doing to clean the dump yard and the lake affected by the dump yard, he told me that they have stopped using that dump yard but they still have still haven’t cleaned because they haven’t got permission from the government .
